A Day at Disney's Private Island- Castaway Cay

Happy Monday, friends! I hope all of you had a great weekend and are ready for another great week! Today I can't wait to tell you guys about one of my favorite Disney places, Disney's Private Island, Castaway Cay. If you take a Disney Cruise out of an east coast port you will most likely get to to to Castaway Cay, and let me just tell you, it's incredible! Disney does such a great job with their private island! The day we were at Castaway Cay it was a little chilly, so getting in the water was out of the question for these Floridians, but we did get to do a lot of exploring, eating, and a 5k! Yes, I said a 5K!

Castaway Cay is divided up into four main parts, a family beach, an adults beach, a little kids beach, and a teen beach. Each of these areas are really well themed out. At the adult beach there are a lot of lounge chairs and hammocks to just sit and relax and enjoy the view. The family beach is filled with brightly colored umbrellas, chairs, and rentals like bikes and kayaks so families can do activities together. We didn't make our way over to the kids or teen beach since we didn't have anyone in that age group traveling with us.

One really great thing about Castaway Cay is the transportation system. You can choose to walk to the beach if you want, but there is also a complimentary tram and tram station (that you have to switch trams for the adult beach) if you have a lot of beach goodies to take out with you. The tram runs about every 10 minutes from the ship to the tram station and the adults  only beach.

While you're at Castaway Cay you'll be served an all you care to enjoy bbq beach side lunch! This includes all kinds of salads and breads, fresh fruit, ribs, chicken, fish, sausage, burgers, ice cream and so much more! This was out favorite part of the day because it was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the view and have some sweet family time without any distractions.

If you're into runDisney, there is a 5K on Castaway Cay, and you'll need to sign up for it the first day you embark onto the ship at guest services. You will get to be some of the first off of the ship when you pull into Castaway Cay. As a group, which is a massive group, a Cast Member will lead you to the starting line of the race, which goes down and around an old air strip and biking trail. My dad and I did this race together, and it definitely was NOT my best race. It was very hot and humid the morning we ran, and we were on vacation so we walked on "vacation pace." It took us quite a while to finish... but we got this medal that you can only get if you go on a Disney Cruise and complete the race!

Well friends, whatever you choose to do on your day at Castaway Cay make it magical! It really is an incredible place with so much to do and explore! Let me know in the comments if you've ever been to Castaway Cay! Also be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with all of my Disney adventures!

Be Magical Today!
