Tips and Tricks to Beat the Heat At Walt Disney World

IMG_3133.JPG

Happy Wednesday, friends! Welcome to Summer in Florida. This weekend it's going to get to 90+ degrees here, and it's not going to cool down any time soon. With the added humidity coming in a few weeks, summer here can be awful, and you really don't want to do anything, but you shouldn't cancel your vacation because it's hot. Today I'm giving you five tips and tricks to beat the heat at Walt Disney World this Summer!

1. Free Water is EVERYWHERE!

It's really important to stay hydrated out there! At every quick service and Starbucks throughout Walt Disney World they will give you free ice water. This is great if you bring a refillable cup with you to put super cold water into versus warm water from a water fountain. When the parks get REALLY hot and you probably feel like you're going to melt, Cast Members will have water jugs outside of quick service restaurants so you don't have to wait in the lines to ask for free water, you can just go to the jug and get some.

2. Go watch a show, even if you don't particularly like it.

One of the best thing about Disney is that it houses Florida's number one commodity, air conditioning, inside of each show. Even if you don't particularly like the show, it's really refreshing to go inside for a while, sit and cool off, and get out of the Florida sun. Some of the places that are great for this are Hall of Presidents and Mickey's Philharmagic at Magic Kingdom, Festival Of The Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Musical at Animal Kingdom, and The American Adventure at Epcot.

3. A pool great at your resort is definitely a great idea!

Taking a break in the middle of the day for a nap or heading to the pool is a great way to get out of the parks and cool down for a bit. One of the things my family loves doing is only going to the parks in the morning and at night over summer because of how hot it gets. The pool is a great way to still have fun outside, but not feel so miserable in the process.

4. Ice cream is also a great idea.

Any time is a good time for ice cream, but especially when it's hot. If you're at Epcot, take the exit out of the park at International Gateway to the Boardwalk and head over to Ample Hills for some of the best ice cream at Walt Disney World.

5. Go hang out with your favorite Disney characters!

Most of your favorite Disney friends meet indoors regularly, so going to give them a visit is a great way to get out of the heat and into some cool air for a while. At a lot of the meet and greets now you get to meet at least two characters, so your 30 minute wait time is worth actually waiting.

The American Adventure- Epcot

The Land Pavilion- Epcot

Star Wars Launch Bay- Hollywood Studios

Frozen: Live on Stage- Hollywood Studios

The People Mover- Magic Kingdom

The Tiki Room- Magic Kingdom

Festival of the Lion King- Animal Kingdom
