Disney Parks Blog Meet-Up: Solo

Happy Wednesday, friends! I know it's been a while since I posted, but I think I have a new idea about how things are going to go down here on Mingling With Megan so I'm really excited to share that with you, along with what I actually want to talk about today, Solo: A Star Wars Story!

First thing's first, my blog is shifting it's posts a little bit in the amount of posts per week. Before I was writing for POPSUGAR, I was writing here twice a week on Monday and Wednesday. Now I'm having to change that to just Wednesday, but don't panic! I'll still be very active here and on Instagram. I have just been VERY blessed to be able to take my writing abilities to another location as well, and I still have a real job I have to do.

Now about Solo. I was lucky enough to be get to see the premier of Solo: A Star Wars Story at Disney Springs last week courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog. The event was lots of fun and since I got to bring a guest, I brought my mom. Mom's really are the best, so taking her to see her VERY FIRST Star Wars FILM EVER was lots of fun!

Before the movie we had dinner at Morimoto Asia, which is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney Springs right now. There's so much to sample and the menu has a wide variety that will please everyone. The nice thing about Morimoto Asia is that they serve lunch until 4:30, so we were able to get our favorite bento box! This comes with a soup or salad, sushi, a protein, dumplings, and a spring roll. We also got their fried portobello mushrooms! Friends, if you're ever at Disney Springs and need a snack, sit at the bar at Morimoto Asia (the bar is first come, first served) and get the mushrooms. I usually hate mushrooms, but these were the glorious, salty, crunchy, savory bombs of flavor!

After our super late lunch/ early dinner we went over to the AMC Theater at Disney Springs where there were members of the 501st, a Star Wars fan group who dresses up as characters and were taking photos with everyone. This was a great touch to the event! If you've ever run a Star Wars RunDisney event you've probably seen these guys around.

Now I don't want to ruin the movie for you because it's not been out too long, so here's my spoiler free review. Solo was good entertainment, but to me it didn't have the "Star Wars" feel we are all used to. I loved all of the nods to past movies. I LOVED Donald Glover as Lando. I think it's hard sometimes to do a movie like this because some people have already made a backstory of different characters up in their minds, and when it doesn't match what's on the screen it can be disappointing. I definitely had that moment a few times after watching Solo twice opening weekend. Do I think it's a horrible film? No. Is it a film I'm going to want to watch over and over like The Force Awakens. No.

Let me know your SPOILER FREE thoughts on Solo in the comments! Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with all of my Disney adventures! There's a lot coming up soon!

Be Magical Today!
