Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Character Tips

Pyzdh1bY.jpg

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend, and are enjoying your Monday off! There is a whole lot going on in the next two months, and I'm super excited to be able to tell you guys more about that soon! Last week my mom and I got to go to one of the first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and we had so much fun! There are going to be a few MNSSHP posts, but this one is all about the question I've been getting most on Instagram, "MEGAN, HOW DID YOU MEET SO MANY TOP TIER CHARACTERS?!" So today I'm letting you guys in on my tips and tricks on how exactly we met 5 sets of characters in one night, including three before the party even got started at 7:00!

First off, you should know my mom and I went in to Magic Kingdom with a plan! We knew we wanted to meet 7 Dwarfs, and Minnie in her Halloween costume, and they were literally right next to each other! Everyone else we got to meet was an added bonus for us!

So we started our night at 7 Dwarfs, and we were INSIDE Magic Kingdom at 4:00. That's the key if you're wanting to do this top tier group! This line gets really long really quickly. They meet back in Storybook Circus behind the splash zone, under the tent. We got in line about 4:15, and there were already people waiting when we got there. If you are taking a group, this would be the time to leave one person in the line, and everyone else go and get food to bring back, and one person go get whatever party merchandise you might want. Pins, apparel, ornaments, totes, and magic bands are all sold inside Storybook Circus at Big Top Souvenirs. Your group is going to want to be back together by 5:30, because that's when cast members start to shift the line again, and you move under the actual tent for the meet and greet. The night we were at the party, all 7 Dwarfs started meeting about 6:15, but a cast member did let us know that this is not always the case and it can start as late at 7:00, but 6:15 is the earliest usually. We were about tenth in line so we were done about 6:30, and it was so worth the 2 hour wait! Especially because we weren't wasting any party time at all during this!

We then knew Minnie in her witch costume would be meeting by the splash zone so we popped in line over there. Be sure to get in the correct line, because Donald and Daisy also meet in this area and they will have a line close by. Most cast members will be able to tell you which line is for who. We were about the fourth group in line for this. Minnie did come out a little before the party, at 6:45 to start meeting so we were done with her meet right before the party started!

Then over by the exit for Dumbo, next to the Barnstormer, Goofy in his new Halloween costume meets! We were in line for him about 7:00, and the line looked a little long, but it really was about 5 minutes since the groups in front of us were pretty big. We danced and took our photos with him, then made our way out of Storybook Circus by 7:15! That's three characters before a lot of people are even in the park for the party!

Our goal characters were 7 Dwarfs and Minnie, so anything else was a bonus, so after another snack, we got in line for Pooh and Friends! They meet right next to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Ride, and they were super cute. Honestly, besides 7 Dwarfs this was the longest line we waited in, but even with that it was only about 30 minutes!

At this point it was about 8:00 when we were done, and one hour into the actual party! We had eaten a snack twice, gotten our merchandise while waiting for 7 Dwarfs, met four characters, and taken a ton of fun photos! You might be thinking, "Why haven't you done any rides yet?!" I'm an annual passholder, so I get to go to the parks whenever I want, so I made characters my priority this night, especially since most of the rides I would normally do I had done recently, or have a fastpass for in the next few weeks. But there is one ride that you HAVE to do at a MNSSHP and that's Haunted Mansion! All of the Cast Members who work the mansion are dressed up a little spooky, and after 7:00 the lady of the manor comes out onto the lawn of the Haunted Mansion to interact with guests! While you cannot officially make this a meet and greet, it's definitely a great addition to the party, and well worth going over to Liberty Square for! We also watched the first run of Boo To You and HalloWishes from Liberty Square.

If you've already seen both of those, that would be a great time to go see a few more characters since people are pretty much going to be on the parade route or on Main Street for about an hour! Lines will be much shorter, and people won't be entering new lines. We saw the Jack and Sally line from Liberty Square only had about 10 people in it post-fireworks! For us, they weren't a huge priority, so we headed over to Adventureland where we stumbled upon one of our favorites of the night!

In Adventureland, right past the bridge on the left you will normally find stroller parking, but on a MNSSHP night, this is where you'll find Tarzan, Jane, and Terk meeting. The line was only a few people, so we jumped in and had an animal dance with our favorite jungle friends! This was about 11:15, and Adventureland was dead. So we went to get our candy bags filled! Major tip: don't waste time in candy lines early in the party! At the end of the night, cast members will just fill it up, and Adventureland is where it's at! The Enchanted Tiki Room was a major win with four candy stops within the whole area, and we left with bags 3/4 full and they went in empty!

A few tips to leave you friends with:

1. Try to find a map of the party before you go! This will help you decide where you want to be at what time for shows and parades. Build your night around that!

2. Prioritize what characters you want to meet. The closer to Halloween, the busier parties are! So try to only pick one or two priority characters, then see everything else as a bonus when it comes to meet and greets.

3. Get in line EARLY for top tier characters like Jack and Sally, Moana, and 7 Dwarfs.

4. Some areas of the park has more characters than others, so if your goal is in numbers and not a specific character, think about visiting Storybook Circus, or Adventureland.

5. Some characters will start meeting before the party, be sure to know if that's one of the ones you want to meet!

6. The weather will always impact character meet schedules. Some will be canceled, and some will be moved to a new location. Be flexible.

7. HAVE FUN!

What characters meet where?

Note: To meet any of these characters you will be checked for a party wristband, be sure to get one before you get in line!
