My Guide to Pandora: The World of Avatar

Pandora 7.jpg

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! This week is really exciting because I just planned out my Fall Disney trips through the first part of October and I cannot wait to be back! One of my favorite things at Walt Disney World right now is Pandora: The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom. This brand new land is filled with so much detail that you could never see EVERYTHING in one visit. That's why I keep going back to Disney honestly, it's because every time I head back to a familiar part of the park, I notice something new and the story gets a little bit richer. If you're headed to Pandora you're going to want to keep a few tips in mind to have the best experience.

First off, there are two rides in Pandora: The World of Avatar. One is a slow moving boat ride called Na'vi River Journey, and the other is a flight simulator called Flight of Passage. I would highly suggest getting a fastpass for one of these. If you are planning to do both of these on your Animal Kingdom day I would get the fast pass for Na'vi River Journey. This is probably counter to many other blogs you might read, but hear me out. The ride queue for Na'vi River Journey is somewhat boring in comparison to the incredible storytelling and detail on Flight of Passage. Personally, I would rather wait in a queue that has things to look at and has me immersed in the story, than a queue that is mostly outdoors and has little to keep my mind from thinking how long I've already waited. I also think that if you go with the Fastpass on Flight of Passage you miss so much of the story the imagineers were intending to tell us before boarding that you might not get the whole experience, where I definitely don't feel that way on Na'vi River Journey.

When it comes to food in Pandora, it really depends on what you want. If you want more snack type things, Pongu Pongu is going to be the place to go, but if you want an actual meal, then Satu'li Canteen is going to be where you want to be. Pongu Pongu is located right next to Windtraders on the far side of Pandora by the exit for Flight of Passage. Here they sell alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks, the infamous night blossom slushy drink, and the Pongu Lumpia. For me, all of the options here are underwhelming and far to sweet. If you are looking for really great drinks head over to Nomad Lounge, which is right outside of the main entrance to Pandora and belly up to the bar. At Nomad Lounge you can sit inside or outside, and their outside seating has a great view of Pandora.

The quick service restaurant inside of Pandora is so great and well worth stopping in for your meals. Satu'li Canteen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've only eaten there for dinner and it's been very good! I like that you are served on real plates and can get real silverware instead of paper plates and plastic silverware like many of the other quick service restaurants around Walt Disney World. The food here is approachable for all types of eaters, and I like that you can mix and match your meal so you never have the same meal twice.

If you're wanting to do Pandora: the World of Avatar any time this summer I would suggest getting to Animal Kingdom before the park officially opens. This is going to help cut down on your wait times for both rides, and you could easily do everything in Pandora in a few hours if you got one of the coveted fastpasses for a ride inside this new land. Through August 19, 2017, Pandora will host Extra Extra Magic Hours for Walt Disney World Resort guests. This means that only Pandora will be open at Animal Kingdom, but it does give guests a better opportunity to see and do everything within this new land. Be sure to check with your Disney hotel front desk or on My Disney Experience for times of these Extra Extra Magic Hours. Trust me, you are going to want to see Pandora at night!

Well friends, I hope this little guide helps you out when traveling to Pandora: The World of Avatar! If you have any questions be sure to leave them in the comments! Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram!
