Happy Tuesday, friends! Yes, I know this post is a day late, but sometimes life just happens and you can't get to everything in one day. I didn't want to miss out on writing about Princess Half Marathon Weekend though, so here I am today, and for those of you wondering if there will be another new post tomorrow, yes there will be.
There were some great changes to the race this year! (Note I only did the 10K, so I cannot speak for all of the races!) I loved that the corral starts still had a staggered start, but within your corral there were 3-5 sub corrals. This was not based on time, but randomly decided on the amount of people in each corral. I was lucky enough to be in the first sub-corral which gave me a two minute head start on the people behind me. This also helped with the congestion that can sometimes happen in the more narrow areas of the race course, especially right after the first mile marker.
While the expo didn't seem to change much this year, it did seem much more organized, which was a major plus. I always hate going to the expo and picking up my bib. There's a million people there and there's way to much in a small space for my level of comfort. They did have a really cool Beauty and the Beast photo area though, and you know I had to stop to take some pictures! They also had the costumes from Josh Gad (LeFou) and Luke Evans (Gaston) which was super cool to see!
This was my fifth year running Princess Half Marathon Weekend and friends I can tell you with full confidence that I will be running again next year! I love this weekend at Disney. There is a special kind of energy in the air, and it's contagious. Everyone from the volunteers to Cast Members to other runners make this a really unique experience at Walt Disney World. If you've never done a runDisney Race and you've been thinking about it, I would highly suggest Princess Half Marathon Weekend as a fantastic start!
