Happy Monday friends! I hope you guys are having a great start to your day and are planning for a great week ahead! I'm super excited about this week because I'm going to be previewing and reviewing two really special Epcot Festivals! Today I'm going to be talking about the International Flower and Garden Festival! This is one of two main festivals that Epcot has throughout the year, along with the International Food and Wine Festival in the Fall. But there's something really special about Flower and Garden. Epcot truly feels so alive, and everything is so bright thanks to the warmth of Florida winters that help the flowers bloom early.
This is not a festival you can experience all in one day. There are so many things to do, and try, that if you try to do everything in one day you're either going to have a miserable time running back and forth across the park to get to different events that are happening. There's everything from concerts in the evening, to gardening seminars, to a whole plethora of Outdoor Kitchens to try food at. And don't even get me started on just taking time to enjoy all of the amazing topiaries, and flower beds that Disney has put together for this year!
The concerts are usually very popular and on some nights it will be standing room only. The best way to guarantee your seat is by reserving a dining package through the Walt Disney World website for your choice of a few restaurants at Epcot, which gives you priority to get into the seated area of the concerts.
Gardening seminars happen throughout World Showcase and in the Festival Center (which is the old Wonders of Life Pavilion). These vary by day and time, so be sure to check the Festival Guide when you enter Epcot for more details.
What's not to be missed is the amazing food that the Epcot chefs have dreamed up for this year. 2017 is bringing two new Outdoor Kitchens to the festival, The Berry Basket and Northern Bloom. You'll notice in all of the food and theming, that everything is very fresh and very colorful. While prices have not been announced, usually the Outdoor Kitchen menu items are anywhere from $6-$9 depending on what it is, and alcohol is always more. There are many fan favorites coming back this year including:
- Freshly Baked Lemon Scone with Creme Fraiche and Berries from Cider House
- Frozen Dessert Violet Lemonade from Pineapple Promenade
- Beef Brisket Burnt Ends Hash with White Cheddar Fondue and Pickled Jalapeños from The Smokehouse Barbecue and Brews
- Frushi from Hanami
- Tarte à l’Onion Alsacienne: Alsatian Onion Tart with Sautéed Onions, Fresh Thyme and Rosemary on a Flaky Puff Pastry Crust from Fluer de Lys
- Macaron Chocolat Framboise: Large Raspberry Macaron with Chocolate Fudge and Raspberry Jam from Fluer de Lys
- La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush: Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain Liquor, White and Red Cranberry Juice from Fluer de Lys
The menus seriously look so amazing! If you're on the Disney Dining Plan any of these or other menu items can be used as a snack credit, which if you're asking me is a great way to use your snacks!
