Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend Tips and Tricks

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope you all are having a great week so far! We are only TWO days away from this year's Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Well, technically it starts tomorrow, but the races start Friday. If you're new around here Wine and Dine is a runDisney event that includes a 5K, 10K, and half marathon and is always run during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. This year the theme is travel and I'm super excited!

There are a few things you should know before heading off for the big race day! So I've compiled all of my pre-race tips and tricks for you guys so you can have the best race weekend possible.

1. Get to the expo early!

My number one tip for any race weekend is to always get to the expo as early as possible. This will minimize the amount of time you will be standing in line to pick up your bib and race gear, along with any merchandise you want to get. The expo gets VERY busy starting Friday afternoon, so if you can I would suggest getting there Thursday or Friday morning. If you're staying at a Disney resort there are complimentary buses for you to take to the expo just like there are to the parks, but sometimes they can be a bit slow, so I prefer to take my own car.

2. Always have a costume!

Part of the fun of these runDisney events is dressing up! There are people who just wear a tutu and a fun t-shirt, and there are some people who go full on Disney princess ball gown! I'm more in the middle. In the past I've dressed up like Rapunzel, Merida, Ariel, Rey, Captain Phasma, and this year for Wine and Dine I'm breaking away from my normal "princess theme" and going with something Marvel!

3. You get to run through Pandora!

If you're running the 5K or Half Marathon you get to run through the newest addition to the Disney Parks, Pandora: The World of Avatar! This is honestly the coolest thing, and when I saw the course map for the 5K I was really mad I didn't sign up for that race because it looks awesome!

4. Try to make dining reservations!

If you're planning on being at the parks for any amount of time this weekend be sure to make dining reservations! I know this sounds so simple but I cannot tell you the amount of times I've seen guests turned away from a restaurant on race weekend because there are no more tables available. The parks are going to be VERY busy, so try to get at least one dining reservation if you're wanting to do a table service meal.

5. Try to rest as much as possible!

This might seem counter to what you'll want to do at Disney because let's be honest, who wants to be in their room all weekend?! It's supposed to be really nice outside, Food and Wine Festival is going on, the Christmas decorations are going up at Magic Kingdom, and there's so much to do! I'm not saying DON'T go to the parks, because I'm totally going to be there, but I am saying to take it easy. Take a break. Go back to your room early. Your body is going to need to recover/ rest up for your big race!

Well friends, I hope this helps any of you who are running in this year's Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend! Let me know in the comments if you're going to be there! Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with all of my Disney adventures!
