Words Are Magical

Staying at Wilderness Lodge for the First Time!

It's been a dream of mine for years to stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge! This delux resort hidden in the trees off the lake by Magic Kingdom is all that you want a whimsical, woodland lodge to be, and so much more. When you walk into the lobby you are greeted with the smell of pine, fire smoke, and a flowing stream. You're also greeted by a "Park Ranger" who is there to assist with anywhere you need to go on the grounds of the Lodge, direct you to the check-in counter, or just tell a great joke!

The look and feel of Wilderness Lodge is what I love the most. The high vaulted ceilings give the feel of a mountain escape right in the middle of Walt Disney World! Imagineering went above and beyond (literally) on this one, friends! There are hand carved totem poles scattered around the resort, along with a stream right there inside the lobby that goes outside to a beautiful waterfall, and the pool.

We were staying in the DVC Villas of Wilderness Lodge, which is called Boulder Ridge. Can I just ask you that if you are ever near Wilderness Lodge to go over to see the lobby area of Boulder Ridge?! This area is full of history. Inside the lobby are model trains that belonged to Walt Disney, along with photos of Walt on different trains. Obviously trains were important to Walt, which is why they are at all of the Disney Parks, but to see some of his models was so incredible!

While we were staying at the Lodge we enjoyed breakfast at Roaring Fork, the resorts quick service, and Whispering Canyon, the resorts table service restaurant. Both of these restaurants are great, but offer very different experiences and food! Roaring fork is a quick service, meaning you order, and pick up your own food. What I do like about Roaring Fork compared to other quick services at value, or even moderate level resorts at Walt Disney World is that the area where you order and the area where you pick up food are pretty much separate. And if you're going to be eating at the restaurant you get a pager to know when your food is going to be ready. The dining space at Roaring Fork is limited, but the main lobby of the hotel is very close and who doesn't want to eat breakfast by a fire when it's cold out?! The best thing at Roaring Fork for breakfast are the Mickey Waffles. But friends, these aren't just any Mickey Waffles, these have a banana foster sauce, and are so so good! My friend Kristen, from DisneyTripsAndDoleWhip on Instagram told me about these and I'm now obsessed! Whispering Canyon is a fun and interactive dining experience at Wilderness Lodge. We have eaten here many times before, and have loved it every time. The waitstaff are always so fun, and make for a memorable meal. The best thing on the menu, that you wont be getting anywhere else on Walt Disney World property, is the banana bread French toast! It's so good, but very sweet!

Another thing I love about Wilderness Lodge is the amount of ways you can get to the parks. Obviously if you have a car you can drive where ever you want to go. But there is also a boat that will take you to the Magic Kingdom! It's one of the most relaxing ways to start off a morning. There is also a separate boat that will take you to Fort Wilderness Camp Grounds and the Contemporary Resort. From the Contemporary you can walk to Magic Kingdom, take a Monorail to other resorts or Magic Kingdom, or take a monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center to transfer to a new monorail line to go to Epcot! (I don't suggest doing this if you're in a rush! It does take a while.) There are also the complimentary Disney buses to take you the parks, Disney Springs, Water Parks, and an internal bus to take you to Fort Wilderness!

Friends, I cannot speak highly enough about staying at Wilderness Lodge! Yes there is some construction going on right now because they are building cabins out on the lake much like what the Polynesian has with their bungalows, but the grounds are amazing. The atmosphere is just what you think of when you think of a mountain lodge. If I had to pick a deluxe resort to stay at for the rest of my days, Wilderness Lodge would probably be it!

Be magical today!
