Walt Disney World Wednesday: A Disney Staycation
This past weekend my mom and I got to go to Walt Disney World for a wonderful staycation. Our passes aren't good again until the 11th of this month, and we needed a major Disney fix. So we booked a room at Coronado Springs Resort and did things outside of the parks we wouldn't normally do! We got the opportunity to really enjoy our resort, Disney Springs and so much more! Today I really just wanted to share a bit more about some really special things we did this past weekend in case you're heading to the parks soon and have a "down day" planned or just want something different to do!
On Saturday we hung out at Disney Springs, and since Town Center opened, there's so much to do again! I love all of the new shops and I love being able to buy Disney clothes and non-Disney clothes all in one spot. One of my favorite non-Disney stores is Zara, and since we don't have a Zara where I live I'm excited that Disney Springs has one! Zara has really great quality clothing and accessories, at a price that's pretty affordable. Then there was Uniqlo. I ended up meeting some Disney IG friends @CitizensOfNeverland, formerly Grasons Do Disney, there randomly. But I had to leave the store because it was so overwhelming and super busy! I definitely suggest doing Uniqlo right when Disney Springs opens for a better shopping experience!
We also ate at Homecoming, the new restaurant at The Landing, by Art Smith, and it was awesome! I'm going to be doing a whole post on that soon, but if you're headed to Disney Springs in the next few weeks, I highly recommend Homecoming! The fried green tomatoes and mac & cheese are the best I've ever had!
Then Saturday night we went over to Port Orleans Riverside to see Yeeha Bob at The River Roost! Talk about a good time. Bob puts on a show almost every night, except Sunday, at 8:30 (but for more exact dates and times, check his website yehaabob.com). I mean really, despite the dark picture, how cute is Bob?!
Then Sunday we hung out at our resort pool, the Dig Site! Coronado Springs has easily become one of my favorite Disney Resorts! It's so beautiful and the pool is awesome! The pool bar/ snack bar is also really good. I had some of the best fish tacos I've ever had at Disney at The Dig Site!
After our pool party we decided to do a bit of a bar crawl and went over to the Yacht Club to the Crew's Cup. What an absolute hidden gem! The place was basically empty and the drinks were great, along with the variety of food on the menu. Mom and I are all about trying out new places and this was the best of the weekend! We both had a glass of wine, and the wine list at the Crew's Cup was fab! Then we got a crab cake, and truffle fries. The head chef for the Crew's Cup is from Baltimore so he knows how to make a great crab cake, and this was just that! It was almost all crab, and no filler. Then those truffle fries!! I would go to the Yacht Club from where ever I'm staying just for those. They were hand cut fries with a truffle dipping sauce. YUM! I've had similar ones at The Boathouse at Disney Springs, but the ones from the Crew's Cup were way better!
After the Crew's Cup we went to the Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge and had the cheese fondue. And let's be honest here for a second, you can't go wrong with cheese anything! We walked around the Lodge for a while just to explore, and saw a lot of construction. We are staying here in January, so I'm hoping the construction isn't going to be as noticeable by then. Or at least not from whatever room we might get.
Then we went over to the Poly for a Dole Whip, which is really the best way to end the night. Mom got just a regular one like what you can get in Magic Kingdom, and I got a Spiky Pineapple (a Dole Whip with rum) from the patio of Trader Sam's. You can only get the Spiky Pineapple from the patio and it sure is worth sitting out in the heat for!
On Monday we checked out, got some Mickey waffles for breakfast and headed home. But I'll be back at WDW in a few weeks to finally be able to go into the parks again! I'm so excited that my blackout dates are almost over, but I'm also so glad I got to spend a wonderful weekend with my mom!
When's your next trip to Walt Disney World?! Let me know in the comments!
