Walt Disney World Wednesday: Disney Must-Do's For First Time Guests: Magic Kingdom

"WE'RE GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD!" Those are the words every kid wants to hear, or adult. But there's something really special about going to WDW for the very first time, or taking someone you love to the parks for the first time. There's so much to do and see, and eat, that you could never do it all in one or two days. So today I'm going to be talking about my Must-Do's for first time Walt Disney World Guests! (If you've ever been to WDW and stayed at one of the resorts on property, I feel like Stacey on that channel that takes you around WDW talking about must-dos!)

I'm going to be breaking this up by park and including one ride, one show, one snack, one quick service, and one table service restaurant. Obviously there is way more to do at WDW than what I'm going to be listing, but that just means you're going to need to go back! This is also going to be a four week series, one post for each park. Otherwise you would be here until tomorrow reading this!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is where fantasy and wonder come together to create something truly special! There's nothing like walking down Main Street USA for the first time, seeing Cinderella Castle, and knowing you're in for a whole bunch of magic! One ride that is a must for anyone going to Magic Kingdom for the first time (or any time in my opinion) is Pirates of the Caribbean! It's a Walt Disney classic, and it's truly timeless. There's nothing like walking through that dark queue smelling the "Disney Water Smell" everyone talks about, and getting to experience a ride that has stood the test of time.

One show that cannot be missed at Magic Kingdom is Festival of Fantasy! Personally this is my favorite parade at Walt Disney World, and favorite parade ever, so I might be a little biased. But honestly, this is the perfect time to sit down, grab a snack from somewhere, and see a bunch of characters all at once, and be immersed in one of the most creative parades Walt Disney World has ever put on.

Let's talk food! Magic Kingdom is full of classic Disney snacks, but the one that you have to have when you're there is a Dole Whip. If you didn't get a Dole Whip when you go to WDW, you didn't get the full Disney experience. So what exactly is a Dole Whip? It's deliciously sweet and tart pineapple soft serve ice cream. You can get it from Aloha Isle Refreshments, which is in Adventureland. This is also where Pirates of the Caribbean is. So the perfect day would be to ride Pirates, grab a Dole Whip, and walk through the little tunnel between Adventureland and Frontierland and find a spot to watch Festival of Fantasy!

When it comes to quick service restaurants at Magic Kingdom there's only one place I'm going and it's Casey's Corner on Main Street! There's nothing better than hot corn dog nuggets, fries, and a Sprite on a perfect Magic Kingdom day. Casey's is tiny, and has VERY limited seating inside and just outside, but if you take your food and walk to the hub grass just in front of Casey's then you can sit there and there won't be a million people around you. The hub grass is also the perfect place to just hang out and take some time to look around and take in all that Magic Kingdom is!

Finally, table service restaurants. If I could tell you how wonderful Be Our Guest is for dinner, my words still wouldn't give justice to the restaurant. It's stunning inside! You get seated in one of three rooms, the West Wing, the Rose Room, or the main dining room which looks like the Ballroom from Beauty and the Beast. The food here is pretty good. I gave it an 8/10. The pork chop and the lamb are both awesome! But what's really special is that after your meal is done you get to meet Beast!

So friends, if you're planning to go to Walt Disney World for the first time I hope you try some, or all, of these things!
