Walt Disney World Wednesday: Top 5 Table Service Restaurants

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope you guys are having a great week! Today, like most days, I want to talk about food. But not just any food, Disney food. Disney has some of the best snacks, walk-up, and table service restaurants. And the thing is, you don't have to pay to get into the parks to go to a lot of these places! Some of the best restaurants at Walt Disney World are at hotels or Disney Springs! So today I've made a list of my top five favorite table service restaurants outside of the parks at Walt Disney World. (Don't worry, the top five table service restaurants inside the parks post is coming soon!)

1. Jiko- The Cooking Place

Jiko is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and if you haven't ever been to the lodge, it's well worth the trip just to see that! But the real star at the resort is Jiko. It's a signature dining restaurant, which means if you are on the Disney Dining plan it's going to be two dining credits, but it's so worth it. Everything at Jiko is inspired by African and Indian flavors, so you need to be a little bit adventurous to eat here. But I would say even picky eaters can find something on the menu!

My family and I ate here for my college graduation, and we had the best experience! Everything from the hostess and wait-staff, to the food and drinks were top notch. The menu has changed some since we have been, but I would still highly recommend going. We had some appetizers that have been rotated off of the menu, but for entrees we had the  chermoula spiced lamb shank, harissa chicken, and Nigerian-spiced pork shank. All of our dishes were awesome! Because we were celebrating my college graduation, the staff really made us feel special and kept bringing out samples of different dishes for us to try, and a special dessert! We also all had wine. Jiko has the largest selection of African wine outside of Africa, so you'll definitely find something you love!

2. Morimoto Asia

Morimoto Asia is one of those places that you want to go back to again and again because the food is awesome, the decor is really cool, and the variety of things is so large that you could keep trying things each time and still have new menu items the next time you visited. This restaurant is located at the Landing of Disney Springs. I've been twice, both for lunch, and gotten two very different experiences, and both were great! One thing I definitely suggest getting if you want to try new things is the Morimoto Lunch Set, which is pictured above! You get to choose the protein you want, then you get sushi, a spring roll, dumplings, kimchi, and soup and salad! This plate is only available at lunch, so I highly suggest getting it if you are around at lunch time.

One thing I really love about Morimoto Asia is their desserts! The mochi-mochi is one of the most interesting dessert experiences I've ever had. Every bite is a different texture and flavor. If you love trying new things, and aren't put off by weird textures, definitely get this. Another dessert I love is the churro fondue. I know what you're thinking, "Megan, churros at an Asian restaurant?" YES! One of our waiters told us that Chef Morimoto loves churros, so he added them to the menu. All of the churros are made in house, and come with a vanilla dipping sauce and a tube of nutella!

3. Raglan Road

This is another restaurant at the Landing of Disney Springs! In fact, it's right across from Morimoto Asia! I love Raglan Road because the food is always consistently good, and they have some awesome entertainment in the form of dancers and bands come in from Ireland! I can't get enough of their scallop forest appetizer, or the heavenly ham entree! That's usually what I order when I go. I love that Raglan road has a really nice outside space to eat and hang out too. And if you aren't into food, and just want a beer, they have a beer cart outside of the restaurant with their top sellers, with usually little to no wait for a cold drink!

4. Flying Fish Cafe

I got to tag along to Flying Fish Cafe to celebrate my parents 25th wedding anniversary! Let me tell you something about Flying Fish, IT'S AMAZING! This is another signature restaurant, so it's going to be two Dining Plan credits, but it's so worth it! We had an awesome meal, with one of the most knowledgeable servers I've ever had at Disney.

Flying Fish Cafe is located at Disney's Boardwalk Inn, and is currently under construction and closed. But when it opens again this fall it's going to have a new menu, a larger chef's table experience area, and more seating! We have been assured the famous potato-wrapped red snapper would be on the menu still! If you love fish, get the snapper! It's everything you want dinner to be and more!

We also had mahi, steak and scallops, and a perfectly delicious banana and chocolate napoleon!

5. Kona Cafe

Located on the second floor of Disney's Polynesian Village, Kona Cafe is one of those hidden gem restaurants that people often miss when they are planning their Disney vacation. A lot of people know about their famous Tonga Toast for breakfast, which you can also get downstairs at Captain Cooks, but lunch is the real star at Kona Cafe!

They have some of the best sushi on WDW property. One of my favorite rolls is the crab rangoon roll, which is crab salad rolled in nori (seaweed), then tempura fried, and served with fried won tons and eel sauce! Kona is also known for their sticky wings, which are awesome! For entrees, I love getting the grilled teriyaki steak with rice and pasta salad. Then for dessert, I'm all about the banana-chocolate creme brulee, which comes with a half bruleed banana!

Honorable Mention:

I couldn't talk about my favorite restaurants outside of the park without talking about Whispering Canyon. I haven't been here for dinner yet, but breakfast is my jam! I've been here four or five times and always had great food and great service. My favorite thing on the menu is the banana bread french toast and cheese grits!

Well that about does it for my top five table service restaurants outside of the parks! If you love any of these places, or have somewhere I didn't list, let me know in the comments!
