Monday Must Haves: February 15, 2016

Happy Monday, friends! It's a pretty busy week here at Mingling With Megan! I've got a birthday celebration for one of my best friends, I'm leaving to run a 10K at Disney, and my Etsy shop is picking up steam. (But we're closing Wednesday, so order soon if you want something this go around!) Today's Monday Must Haves is all about the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend that's happening this weekend! 


Obviously, the sports section is going to be about running. There's nothing more empowering than finishing a race, no matter what the distance is. Someone who's just starting out in running could think going from couch to a 5K is a huge deal, and it is! And people who have been running for a while might think that finishing a 5K is like doing a training run for their 10K or half marathon. But no matter how far you ran or what time you finished in, the real thing to be proud of is that you finished! You beat the people who are still sleeping at the hotel, or eating cookies on the couch. 

Social Media:

For any runDisney event, you're going to want to be following the official runDisney Twitter. This seems really obvious, but there are a lot of people who run these races and don't follow the race coordinator on any social media. The main reason for this is not for the enjoyment of seeing who won the race, though that is exciting, it's to get important updates! I remember last years Wine and Dine Half Marathon had really bad weather and they were updating the families and friends of runners through social media about start times, course changes, and other things. While the weather this weekend is supposed to be great in Orlando, you don't want to miss any important notices.

Running and fashion really don't mix well. But everyone for a Disney run loves dressing up. The word of caution here is to be comfortable, and follow Disney's new rules for costumes for all races! (Those can be checked out on the official runDisney website!) I would suggest getting a t-shirt from Target, who usually as really cute Disney t-shirts, or even from an Etsy shop you love, and combining it with the tutu. Then put on your favorite running shoes and you really have the perfect outfit. If you're wondering what I'm going to be wearing, here it is: 


Just don't. 


Running requires the perfect playlist! And every perfect playlist has the perfect pump-up song. You know, the one that gets you moving a little faster because the beat is great, you love the song, and it's one that you probably dance to in the car. Everyone has a different pump-up song. I have two, "Out of the Woods" by Taylor Swift, and "Codes" by Ellie Goulding. 


If you've never run during Princess Half Marathon Weekend, here's a little bit of what you can expect! 


After any race, you're going to be hungry. Eat some breakfast at your hotel, take a shower, then head to get whatever your favorite park snack is! Mine are the mini corn dogs from Casey's Corner at Magic Kingdom. But if you're not into snacks treat yourself to a drink. My favorite are the avocado margaritas from La Cava Del Tequila at the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot!
