Open Letter To Lou Teasdale
I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration you have given to me over the past year. I know you're really busy trying to keep Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis, the band, and the crew looking their best, so I'll keep it short.
It all started when I bought your book "The Craft." I blogged my way through it last summer, trying to complete as many of the things as I could before university started back. I did everything from Superbase to Grunge Hair. I had a great time and learned a lot. I think that's was the initial spark in my growing interest in hair and makeup.
You see, at university, which I have since graduated from, I studied public relations and sport management. But now I'm out in what people call "the real world" and there's not many jobs available in my field, so I have to find something else to do. Then my mind goes back to those summer day trying to recreate the dreadlocks in your book, (and failing miserably) and trying to recreate some of the graphic liner pictures in The Craft (and succeeding!).
I really just want to say thank you. Thank you for the initial spark of creativity when it comes to makeup and hair. Thank you for telling me it's okay to not be defined by what my industry says is "professional." Because in all honesty, I've wanted lilac hair for a while now, but apparently that's not professional for a work environment. Thank you for telling me that it's okay to be creative when it comes to makeup and being more rock-chic about it.
One day, Lou, I hope to tell you this in person. (In fact, if I bump into you in Chicago when the boys are playing there I will tell you all of this, and possibly ask for a photo.) But for now, this letter will have to do!
