Ulta v. Sephora v. Nordstrom
Here we are at the last installment of the Ulta v. Sephora v. Nordstrom makeup debate. If you missed any of the action the last two weeks, click here for Ulta, and here for Sephora! This week is all about why I love shopping for makeup at Nordstrom, even though things can get a little out of my budget. (Refer to above photo for my life motto about buying makeup.)
First off I must say that to get the full benefits of shopping for makeup at Nordstrom it would be best if you were a Nordstrom Card holder. There are different types of cards you can choose from, like a real credit card, or one like a Target Red card where the money just comes out of your bank account. I say this because then you collect points on all of your purchases, then when you reach a certain threshold you get Rewards money that can be used throughout the store, on makeup, or clothes! There are double and triple point days throughout the year, and those are really the best times to shop.
Anyways, back to the makeup. Nordstrom only carries prestige brands of makeup, going anywhere from MAC to Giorgio Armani to NARS to Charlotte Tilbury. What you can't find in the store, you can always find online! Nordstrom ins the place I go if I've been researching a product for a while, watched reviews about it and I'm ready to invest because I know it's the best of the best. While Sephora might carry many of the same products, I find the people at Nordstrom to give more personalized attention to their clients. I know I can walk into Nordstrom and up to the Bobbi Brown counter without being talked down to because I'm young, but still be given good advice about products I'm looking at. If I'm between two brands the people at Nordstrom are more than willing to show off both for what they are, with pros and cons.
I also like shopping at Nordstrom because of their price-match guarantee. If you find something in the same size, color, and available at a similar retailer, they will match the lower price. Usually makeup is the same price across the board, but there's always that one thing that's a couple of dollars lower somewhere else.
Like Ulta and Sephora, Nordstrom offers free shipping for orders over a certain price threshold. Also, many times you are able to pick three free samples and you get a gift with purchase for spending over a certain amount of money. Instantly your $75 purchase became valued at $125 with all of the free things. Nordstrom is a great place to shop for makeup if you know exactly what you're looking for. Otherwise it might be easy to get overwhelmed.
Now it's your turn! Are you more of a fan of Ulta, Sephora, or Nordstrom? Let me know in the comments. Like this post if you learned something new about shopping for makeup from this series.
