Open Letter to Lisa Eldridge
I just wanted to drop a line to say thank you! I know you're pretty busy doing all sorts of things, so I'll keep things short, but I think you must know what I have to say.
First off, I love watching your YouTube channel, reading your newsletter, and I can't wait for your book to come out. In fact, with my next paycheck Face Paint is getting pre-ordered. I can't wait to see all of the research, effort, and hours of work you've put into this book come to life before me. Just seeing how beautiful the cover is, I know the inside core of the book is going to be even more special.
A few months ago I recreated a look you did on Cara Delevingne, then posted it on Instagram. I had a total fangirl moment when you liked and commented on it saying you loved my look. Then that same fangirl moment happened a few days later when I saw my picture on your Pinterest account on the #MyLisaLook board. Never in a million years would I have thought that such a prestigious makeup artist would be willing to even look at something of theirs I had recreated, AND THEN post it to their personal social media! Which in turn totally inspired me!
Now I have a YouTube channel where I am recreating looks worn by different celebrities, and looks I just like wearing on my own. I probably wouldn't have gone down this road if it wasn't for you, Lisa, saying you loved how I recreated that Cara Delevingne look. Right now I'm working on recreating all of the look's from Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, which is quite daunting, but very fun!
I just wanted to thank you for the constant inspiration with makeup and life in general. I wanted to thank you because you have taught me that even though I may not look like one of the models on the cover of Vogue, that's okay! Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities. I wanted to thank you because you've inspired me to change how I see my makeup collection, as more than just things, but an actual art form.
So Lisa, thank you for everything! Maybe one day I will be able to tell you all of this in person, but until then, this letter will have to do.
