TAG Tuesday: The I Heart Drugstore Tag

Happy Tuesday! If you heard some sort of unidentified noise last night around 7, then a bunch of giggles, don't freak out. I decided to surprise my best friend with tickets to see Taylor Swift for her birthday about seven months early. Talk about excitement! Get ready Tampa, because Emily and I are coming to see you again, and we are bringing along some of our best dance moves.

Anyways, I'm sure you don't really care about that yet, because October is really far away! As you can probably tell from the title, today I'm going to be telling you about my favorite drugstore products. I think you can get some really great products from the isles of Target or wherever you buy makeup that's not high-end, and some of the items are almost exact dupes for the high-end brands.

1. What's your favorite drugstore makeup brand?

I constantly find myself drawn to the Rimmel London section of Target or Ulta. I love the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer among other things that will be listed later. I just think that Rimmel always does a great job with every aspect of their products, from packaging to actual product in the bottle. I feel like I am getting what I pay for. The only thing I don't like is that we, in the US, don't get the full range of Rimmel products. There are so many things I want to try but can't because I don't want to pay a ridiculous exchange rate and shipping fee.

2. What's your favorite face, cheek, and lip products?

My favorite face product is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder. I don't see the point in paying big bucks for a high-end powder when I love this one. I love that I only need to apply it once and it works all day without touch-ups. I've hit pan in mine, so it's very well loved and almost time to purchase another one.

I don't really have a favorite cheek product. If you've read any of my makeup blogs before you will know that I don't wear blush because I let the natural pink in my cheeks come through my foundation.

My favorite lip product is the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in the color 111 "Kiss of Life" which is a great classic red! I love the formulation of these lipsticks. They don't drag and they go on super smooth. The pigmentation in the lipstick is also super saturated so one swipe and you're done! I love products like that.

3. What is your least favorite product?

While I was walking around the isles of Target one day I remembered reading so many great things about the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. So I picked out a shade that I thought would work, got home put it on, and hated it. I don't like the consistency of the foundation and I don't like how yellow it made my skin. While you can't color match at a store like Target, after all of the great things I had read I just expected a lot more out of this foundation.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?

My best makeup bargain is not a product but a tool. I really like the ELF brushes. They are anywhere from $1-$4. I do use some higher end brushes, but I find that these brushes do the job just as well as my high-end brushes, and sometimes better. And as I've said before, if they are good enough for Lou Teasdale to have in her kit they are good enough for me.

5. What is your favorite underdog product?

My favorite underdog product is the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Eyeliner. There are a million gel eyeliner pots on the market right now and I just find that this one does the job the best. It stays on until you want it to come off, and it's a super dark black. The brush that comes with it is okay, but I use my own brush.

6. What product is overpriced?

Anything over $15. This is a drugstore, not Ulta or Sephora. If I wanted to pay more than $15 for a concealer, powder, eyeliner, or whatever else I wouldn't be shopping the isles of Target.

7. What are the best drugstore dupes?

Well the first one that comes to mind has already been mentioned! The Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eye Liner is a great dupe for the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I've used both and I love both, but I think the Bobbi Brown one can dry out and set on my eyes faster than the Rimmel one. If I'm looking for a good smudging eyeliner I'm definitely going Rimmel.

The other dupe I love is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer which is a dupe for the YSL Touche Eclat concealer! Both are brightening and have a pen type dispenser. I really like the consistency of the Maybelline one, and let's be honest as a college graduate without a steady job I like the price of the Maybelline one better too.

8. What product isn't worth the hype?

I don't know if I got a bad batch or I just grabbed a bad color, but the blogging universe raves about the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows, and I just don't like them. Mine didn't set and the rest of my eye makeup creased throughout the day and no one likes that. I just see so much hype and I don't get it.

Well those are my answers to the "I Heart Drugstore" TAG. If you love any of these products or think I missed something huge let me know in the comments. Like this post if the isles of the makeup department at Target draw you in like bad reality tv and you can't let go.
