Monday Must Haves: April 6, 2015

Happy Monday beautiful people of the internet! I hope you had a great Easter filled with life, lots of yummy food, and a cute new Easter dress. After last weekend, which was packed with events, I thought this week might slow down, but I was mistaken there. I have another busy week coming up, including a new haircut debuting sometime Wednesday afternoon, and One Spark this weekend! Which leads us to this week's Must Haves, which are all going to be about what you need to enjoy One Spark. If you don't live in Jacksonville, or aren't planning on coming to the crowd-funding festival this weekend, don't worry, these Must-Haves can translate to almost any event that's going to be outdoors, from sporting events to concerts and art walks, so stick around. You never know what you may find.

Sports:

While One Spark is a crowd-funding festival and doesn't have much to do with sports, I do have to give it up to the Jacksonville Armada for an awesome game this past Saturday! I got my mom to go to her very first soccer game and she had a blast. The Armada won 3-1 and broke the former NASL regular season attendance record. I think that the Armada has one of the best fan experiences in sports in the city right now and if you are hesitant about going to a game, don't be. They are so much fun, and whether you are into soccer or not you are going to have a great time.

Social Media:

Twitter is a fantastic thing. What a world we live in where we can connect with literally anyone in the world, from our dad (who probably thinks a hashtag is still called the pound sign and calls tweets twits) to Harry Styles. But with One Spark they are using their Twitter account to update people about Speaker Summits, different events going on every day of the festival, and even a bit of the behind the scenes stuff us common people don't get to see.

I'm also really excited about One Spark this year because they have made it easier to get around to your favorite booths, and vote for the best creators with a brand new app which can be downloaded from your providers app store!

You can follow One Spark on Twitter here: @BeOneSpark

Fashion:

One Spark is invading over 20 blocks of downtown Jacksonville. That's a lot of space and a lot of walking. While you might want to look super cute, please remember that comfort is going to be key. Especially when it comes to your footwear. It's going to be hot, so also consider that a long sleeved flannel shirt and shorts might not be the best idea. I think the best fashion forward look for the festival is going to be a sundress and some sandals. I love this dress because of the embellishments on the bodice and the bottom hem line, so it's not to girly but still good for walking around in.

Hair:

Again it's going to be hot, we do live in Florida after all! While you might want your long Rapunzel locks to blow in the wind I'm going to highly advise against that. As you're walking around with about a million of your closest friends you will end up putting your hair up into a messy bun, so why not start your One Spark adventure with something cute? I really love this fishtail Heidi braid look. Even though it's a bit messy, it doesn't matter. I find when fishtails aren't a bit messy it looks like you are a schoolgirl on their way to the first day of classes. So mess those braids up, pin them so they stay put, use a bit of Fudge Urban hair spray and go on an adventure around downtown Jacksonville.

Makeup:

I'm going to highly suggest anything with SPF. There are places to get in out of the sun, but over 90 percent of One Spark is outside. While a tan is nice, sunburn on your face is not. I think even going sans makeup and just putting on some sunscreen might be a good idea depending on when you are going to One Spark and how long you plan on spending there.

Music:

There are going to be over 25 different music creators at One Spark, from instrumentalist to full bands! Go out and support them. I got the chance to hear two of the creators this past weekend at other events and they were really good, so I have great hope for the other people in this category. If you are looking for good, local music by talented young people check the One Spark schedule to see when these people are going to be performing

YouTube:

If you're still a bit confused about what One Spark is this video might help.

Food:

Let's just talk about the food at One Spark for a second. They have some of the best restaurants in the city come and set up an outdoor satellite location for the week to feed people. There are also beer gardens, food trucks of all kinds, late night snack places that are open from 8 pm to 1 am, and just about every type of food you can imagine. This is where I will be spending my Sunday Funday for sure!

Well that's it for this week's Monday Must Haves! I can't wait to go out to One Spark this week. If there is anything you think I should feature in an upcoming MMH let me know in the comments. Also if you plan on going to One Spark let me know about that in the comments. Like this post if you love festival season, no matter what the festival is!

xx,

Megan
