TAG Tuesday: The Princess Tag
It's another TAG Tuesday here at Mingling With Megan, and if you're confused by the Disney Princess picture, don't be. The Tag I'm doing today is "The Princess Tag" because what's better than a bunch of stuff that makes you feel like a Disney Princess right before you set off to go to the Happiest Place on Earth? This tag is going to be all of my favorite high-end products in every makeup category, or if I don't have a high-end product in that category something that's on my wish-list and why!
My favorite high-end foundation is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation. While this product is not really full coverage, it's more of a medium coverage, I love it. It's really easy to blend out and you don't need very much. The packaging is really good for traveling as it is in a squeeze tube with a wooden lid. I find myself reaching for this foundation on days when I want my makeup to look flawless, and I really want to build up a look for one reason or another.
I don't have any high-end concealers, but the one I am constantly wishing I had is the YSL Touche Eclat. Anything with the name YSL in front of it is going to be a major princess product or shoes or shirt or whatever, but this concealer is at the top of my list. I've walked past it so many times in Sephora, swatched it, color matched, and even put it in my basket, but have never committed to actually buying it because I'm a post-grad student on somewhat of a budget here. But one day I'm going to be like Bruno Mars and have "Chucks on with Saint Laurent, gotta kiss myself so pretty."
Powder is a product I think you can get really good items at drug store prices, so I don't have a high-end powder either. If I did go out to purchase a high-end powder I would get the Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder. I've read and heard really great things about it, and Chanel makeup is known to be just one of the best brands.
This is easy for me as I'm obsessed with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer at the moment. It's so easy to blend for contouring and it's also perfect for adding a bit of color to your face. The packaging is really cute and has a decent sized mirror. I also like that this bronzer isn't too orange or too ashy so it works for a lot of skin tones.
I'm definitely going to have to go with the cult product line of NARS for blush, and everyone loves NARS Orgasm for blush. This is literally the perfect light pink-peach to add a wash of color across your cheeks.
This is another product I don't have in a high-end product, especially since Revlon just made an awesome dupe for the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. If I had to choose a high-end highlighter I really wanted it would be the Dior Amber Diamond highlighter palette. It's got the perfect champagne and golden colors in it for summer that would bring out any tan and just add a bit of life to a flat makeup look.
This is really hard, because I have a ton of palettes, quads, and single pots of eyeshadow. The one that I have that I think is the perfect princess product is the Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in the color Royal Kahki. Just the packaging alone of Dior products makes them total princess products. But this palette can do so many looks and the colors are so pigmented that there's nothing else in my collection that compares to it.
Eyeliner is another one of those items that you can get really good products in the drugstore, but if I'm picking a high-end eyeliner it's going to be the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink. I really love that this eyeliner has a long amount of time until it sets, so you can either build up a perfect cat eye, or smudge it out to make a more grunge look.
There's a lot of mascara's out there. A LOT! The best one I've found that makes me feel like a total princess with flawless eyelashes is the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara. It's a lengthening mascara that doesn't flake away throughout the day. If you've been around for any amount of time you've probably heard me rave about this mascara. It's well worth the investment.
Like mascara there are more lipsticks in my collection than I care to tell you, and the number just keeps growing each season. The one lipstick I keep going back to that I would say is a total princess product is the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Yu. It's a bright fuchsia pink that's similar to MAC Show Orchid. I just love this lipstick because whenever I put it on I know I can do just about anything and nothing is going to get in my way.
I'm probably the most brow obsessed person in my group of friends. I'm of the school of thought that if someone has bad brows they aren't allowed to tell you anything about your life. The most princess product for brows that I have is the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil. I use the color Dark Brown. I love this pencil because the colors aren't to red, so my brown pencil can be used on my friends with lighter hair if we are in a pinch. I also love that the actual product is so small so when you're applying it people don't automatically assume you've drawn on your eyebrows. Everything looks very natural.
There are two things want, but don't really fit into any of the categories. The first one is a perfume from Lanvin. If you don't know what Lanvin is, it's a designer from Paris and they make some of the best pieces and I can only dream to be dressed by them, but until then I will try to get my hands on the Lanvin "Me" perfume.
The second thing is a set of makeup brushes. Real Techniques came out with their Bold Metal collection and I fell in love. The brushes range anywhere from $15-$30 but they are absolutely beautiful. The brushes are also made with technology that helps makeup to go on better. Total princess brushes.
Well friends, those are my princess products! Are any of your princess products on my list, or is there something you think I should try? Let me know in the comments. Also, like this post if you think you can feel like a princess no matter what makeup you are wearing. (Because after all makeup only enhances the beauty we already have naturally.)
