ALERT! TOPSHOP has Arrived
The day has finally come! TopShop has landed in my city! While it's not a full store, I don't even care. I just care that I don't have to pay ridiculous exchange rates and shipping fees. The Nordstrom in Jacksonville has their TopShop launch yesterday and it was everything I imagined it would be and more.
If you don't know what TopShop is, it's a store in the UK and Europe that sells clothes, shoes, jewelry, and makeup. The equivalent of TopShop in America would be a combination of H&M and Urban Outfitters. TopShop carries everything from super trendy crop tops and lace shorts to more work appropriate blazers and pencil trousers. I've been in TopShop's in the UK before, and it can be overwhelming at the amount of merchandise they have. I imagine that's what it's like when people go Black Friday shopping for the first time. Anyways, TopShop has British, European, and American sizes on their tags, but at least for me I still have to try everything on, even though I know my size. After the Nordstrom TopShop launch had been pushed back twice I was so excited to get to go yesterday and see everything.
This is what I was welcomed into when I went up the escalator.
For anyone who knows me, or even if you don't, I was pretty much the most excited person in the store in that moment. Before I even started collecting items to try on I was greeted multiple times, there was great music playing and it turned into a TopShop party. My goal was to find a full outfit, pants/skirt and a shirt for under $60, which is definitely doable at TopShop. The first things I found was a bright yellow knee-length pencil skirt and a chambray button down shirt. That's when I met Vangi who would end up helping me the rest of my time at Nordstrom.
I continued walking around the new display looking at everything, trying to take it all in and remembering seeing basics, like jeans, in the UK, and hearing some of my favorite vloggers talk about how good TopShop jeans are. I would have to remember that for winter, because it's way to hot for jeans in Florida now. Before heading into the dressing room I grabbed a total of eight items, three shirts, one skirt, one pair of pants, one romper, one pair of overalls/dungarees, and a pair of sandals.
Sadly you can't see the skirt I grabbed in this photo, but it didn't fit anyways.
And neither did these awesome sandals. That's the only bad thing about British sizes and converting to American sizes, not everything is going to work out. The largest these sandals came in at the shop was an American 8.5, so I took those and tried them on. I usually wear a 9 or 10, depending on the brand and type of shoe. They do have them in larger sizes online, so I'm probably going to order them from Nordstrom's Topshop online.
Then I tried on the most professional of the clothes I picked out. I love these pants! They are the Cigarette Pants, and they fit so perfectly. The top is the Scallop Frill Tee, and I ended up getting it in black, along with the pants.
As much as I wanted this romper, it didn't fit either. But it is seriously the cutest. If you have long legs and struggle to find rompers where the tops aren't to low and the shorts aren't riding up all the time this is the one. I especially like the lace detailing around the bottom of each leg. That really does make a difference with how the length of the shorts part of the romper is perceived.
The last thing I tried on was this pair of dungarees, or if you're from the south like me, overalls. If you would have asked me last year if I would be trying on something like this I would have laughed in your face, but this is no laughing matter! These white overalls are so perfect for summer! I felt a lot like Lou Teasdale in this outfit and had no shame about it. I even sent this picture to my mom and she called and said she should have saved her pair that had Mickey and Minnie on the front pocket pouch for our trip to Disney next week. She could have totally been in fashion. Sadly, I didn't have enough money for three things, so something had to stay behind and it was the dungarees. But I will be back for them soon!
I got to the checkout with Vangi after she had helped me with getting everything set in the dressing room and giving me opinions of what I was trying on. She told me TopShop was going to be getting new items every week so if you see something that's not a basic like jeans to grab it while you can. I was so impressed with TopShop and Nordstrom as always! Eventually my whole closet is going to be Nordstrom and TopShop things.
Have you ever been to a TopShop anywhere in the world? What's your favorite piece you've got from them? Let me know in the comments. Like this post if you're excited that it's almost Friday!
