Monday Must Haves: March 30, 2015

Happy Monday friend! I hope you had a great weekend filled with love and all sorts of sparkly things. I am really excited for this week because It's going to be filled with friends, family, food, and Easter! This week's Must Haves is going to all be Easter themed, because what better way to get ready for Sunday than to start on Monday?

Sports:

While some people might laugh at what I've come up with for the sports section this week the true Easter people will know what I mean when I say Easter egg hunts are not for the faint of heart. Especially when you're almost 23 and your grandma hides four eggs around her house with upwards of $20 in each egg. It truly becomes a sport of look everywhere, leave no rock unturned, look in every birds nest at the real eggs, and even under the hood of the grill. Welcome to the best Easter egg hunt on the block.

Social Media:

One of my favorite follows on Instagram recently is the Nordstrom at the St. John's Town Center. They are always posting great outfit inspiration and cool upcoming events, like their TOPSHOP LAUNCH!!! Nordstrom is one of my favorite stores, and while many people think it's not "budget friendly" it really is if you know the sale cycles and look at their awesome sale rack. I've gotten dresses that were $50-$60 for $25-$30.

Fashion:

For as long as I can remember I've always gotten a new Easter dress, and this year is no different. What is different about this year is that I've gone for the skirt/shirt combo. The skirt I bought was one from the Lauren Conrad line at Kohl's. She did a whole collection inspired by the live action Cinderella movie Disney released and it's absolutely stunning! The skirt is a tulle knee-length skirt, with an almost water colored pattern. The only thing I wish this skirt had was pockets, because let's be real, it's 2015 all dresses and skirts should come with pockets now.

Hair:

Since spring has sprung and I'm one to experiment with my hair, I'm loving the idea of going lighter with my hair color. Right now I have a slight ombre, but it's still pretty dark. I would love to go a bit more blonde and lighten things up for spring and summer. While the idea of going lilac is perfect for spring, a job might actually be on the horizon and lilac isn't "professional" for this type of job. (The struggle of being professional and still rebellious is real) I was thinking something like this, and this hairstyle is perfect for Easter too!

Makeup:

In Florida Easter can either be really hot, or really cold. There's really no in between. It's looking like this year is leaning towards the really hot, at almost 80 and sunny! When it comes to weekend makeup, especially warmer months, I don't like to go really heavy. Right now I'm loving the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I love this product because on Easter you're bound to be outside for a while and it's got an SPF, and it's got decent coverage and you can always use a concealer to cover up any spots that the BB cream didn't get. I also love this product because I can apply it with my hands. There's really no fuss, and when you're trying to get ready to go to church, grandma's and probably a million other places you don't want to be fiddling with a bunch of brushes for makeup.

Music:

In music, there's so much new stuff coming out, but because of Easter I love being able to celebrate the Risen King, Jesus. One of my favorite songs is by Hillsong United and it's "Love is War." The lyric "I know you took the fight, you came and died but the grave was borrowed..." which is really what Easter is all about. The grave being empty and that it was borrowed and Jesus rose again to change history for us forever!

YouTube:

While this video from Nic Chapman of pixiwoo isn't all about Easter, it's just down right cute! I can only hope I'm this cool when I'm a mom.

Food:

While everyone loves having ham and green beans for Easter dinner, the best thing that's happening at my house is corn fritters made by grandma. If you've never heard of corn fritters I'm not surprised. Corn fritters are as if a corn nugget, a hush puppy and a corn cake all got mixed together and deep fried. In my family they are either rolled in powdered sugar or split in half and get honey put on them. Talk about Heaven on a plate. We'll have about 20 pans of these golden nuggets, so you are more than welcome to come get some.

Well that's it for this week's Monday Must Haves! If you try any of these things or think of anything I should try, let me know in the comments. If you think Easter egg hunting should be an Olympic sport go ahead and like this post and comment the strangest place you've ever found an Easter egg.

xx,

Megan
