Monday Must-Haves: March 16, 2015

WHAT'S THE CRAIC! Happy Monday friend! I hope you had a great weekend, filled with laughs, love, and brunch. Yesterday was my mom's birthday so I got to take her out to brunch and spoil her a little bit, which was super fun! At the end of the day she said it was one of the best birthday's she had ever had because she got to spend it with her favorite people. If you were a bit confused by the opening statement, let me rephrase, TOMORROW IS ST. PATRICK'S DAY AND I'M EXCITED! So today's Monday Must Haves is going to be all about what you need to make St. Patrick's Day perfect, and possibly last all week long. So grab a Harp or a Guinness and let's get going, shall we?

Sports:

Gaelic football is the most watched sport in Ireland, with 82,300 people attending the finals at Croke Park, in Dublin. Outside of Ireland the largest community of people playing Gaelic football is in New York City. The game of Gaelic football can be described as a cross between soccer, rugby, and American football with other rules twisted in to make a really unique sport. Official rules are that men can only play, but there are women's leagues. So if you are looking for a sport to feel like a true Irish native, Gaelic football might be for you.

Social Media:

I couldn't talk about St. Patrick's Day without talking about one of my, and the world's, favorite Irish people. Niall Horan is the Irish member of One Direction and I'm pretty sure he loves his country more than the most patriotic American loves America. I'm not telling you to follow Niall because boy bands ruined my life and I want the same for you. What I'm telling you is to follow Niall because he gets to travel the world and you see it through a super cool perspective, and there's a lot of talk about soccer on his Twitter, so that's always fun!

Also, Niall describes every emotion I've ever had in this one gif. So there's that.

You can follow Niall on Twitter: @NiallOfficial

Fashion:

It wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day without wearing some sort of green. But let's be honest for a second, no one looks good in those cheesy "Kiss me, I'm Irish" t-shirts. So tomorrow I'm trusting that we all can do our part and look a little more fashion forward. Whether it's a green skirt and a fitted top for girls, or jeans, a black button down and a green bow-tie for the guys, just don't wear a cheesy t-shirt!

Hair:

With your super cute St. Patrick's Day outfit you're going to have to do something equally as awesome with your hair. This is where I think a great accessory comes in. Whether it's a flower crown, or a studded headband, there should be some interest in your hair styling. I really love doing the whole tuck-and-cover thing with headbands because it keeps my long hair away from my face and people always seem to compliment the look.

Makeup:

BUFF Makeup is one of Ireland's leading makeup brands today. They were launched by one of Ireland's leading makeup artists, Paula Callan, and hairstylist Paul Hession. The brand is now launching more and more products, a pro line, gaining worldwide attention, and getting brand ambassadors. BUFF works with well known brands like Loreal Paris, Nioxin and Kerastase Paris. While the line is only available in Ireland, hopefully soon they will be available to ship to the US or sold in US stores!

Music:

You know when you hear a song from a band and you immediately think of the perfect place that song should be played and why. Well that's "Act My Age" by One Direction. It's a proper pub song, where everyone can be a little rowdy, sing-a-long, and just have a good time.

YouTube:

While you're listening to Act My Age and dancing around in your super cute St. Patrick's Day  outfit I hope you've made time to make dinner. But if not, Jamie Oliver has gotten Irish rugby player Brian O'Driscoll to teach you how to make a traditional Irish stew for dinner!

Food:

If making your own meal isn't your thing, because it's definitely not mine, then head to your local Irish pub! In Jacksonville I find that the one I keep returning to is O'Brothers in Five-Points. They have a great mix of food and drink, a fantastic atmosphere, live music on the weekends, and it's just one of those places you want to take your friends too. I usually always get the mac and cheese because it's so cheesy and gooey and everything you want mac and cheese to be! But the fish and chips is really good, along with the Irish empanada!
