Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty
Happy Wednesday friend! Today I'm going to be talking about my seven deadly sins of beauty. I saw this tag on YouTube a few months after going through some old videos of some of my favorite beauty bloggers, and thought it would be fun to do here on Mingling With Megan. For this tag video that circulated around YouTube a few years ago there were seven beauty questions that corresponded with the seven deadly sins. I don't have a YouTube channel and don't really plan on starting one soon, so here I am sitting at Starbucks writing about makeup.
1. Greed: What are your most expensive and most inexpensive beauty products?
My most expensive beauty product is my Tarte Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Full Coverage Foundation. This was $38.00 but I think it was well worth the investment. It goes on so smoothly, doesn't settle anywhere on my face, and has a flawless finish. I also think that while I can spend less money on other things, it's important to put some extra effort into finding the perfect foundation that's going to be good for your skin as well as looking beautiful, and Tarte does all of that!
My least expensive beauty product is my Rimmel London ScandalEyes Kohl Eyeliner in black. I love this product because after it dries it turns into concrete. It doesn't move until you wash it off and it's a black that doesn't have any blue in it. I've tried so many eyeliners, and most of them aren't a true dark black, they still have a hint of blue or as they fade they turn into a light black almost blue, but not this one.
2. Wrath: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
This is without a doubt the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. This came in one of those test boxes you can get from Ulta or Sephora with four or five different products in them. There are some days I love this product and other days I think it looks awful. I think this just comes with bronzer in general. There are days that you can put on your makeup the same as any other day and get to bronzer because your tired and it's winter and you end up looking like you work for Willy Wonka. Then there are days you put on bronzer and you look like you just got back from a vacation in Santorini.
3. Gluttony: What are your most delicious beauty products?
My most delicious product is the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick range. I say range because I have a lot of them now. I just love these so much. They smell like that candy strawberry or cherry flavor from when you were a kid. They last all day and have some of the best pigmentation of a drugstore product I've seen in a long time. I love that I can go from meetings to meals to mingling without these fading!
4. Sloth: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
The products I neglect due to laziness are blush and highlighter. I think I neglect blush because even after my foundation is set and the rest of my makeup is done, the redness in my cheeks still shows through a little bit so I don't really see the point in putting it on. I neglect highlighter because, honestly I just don't see the point. I have highlighter, and I barely use it. If I am using highlighter it's a concealer highlighter like the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. But even then I don't put that everywhere a normal highlighter would go.
5. Pride: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
I have a lot of problems with this question because I think that makeup should only boost your natural confidence, you shouldn't be confident just because you are wearing makeup. But the one product I think gives me the best confidence booster is the Boots No. 7 Beautiful Brow Pencil. I am a freak about how my eyebrows look. In my daily routine they are what I take the most time on because I want them to look on fleek.
6. Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
I feel like this picture says it all, but I probably should actually answer the question.
Like many people before me, I don't see how this question fits with the tag, but whatever. I find that I don't really have a "type" in guys but I do love guys with great hair. That's usually the first thing I notice on a guy, and it's either heartbreaking or the best day ever when a guy I think is really attractive gets a haircut. (Zayn Malik is a perfect example of this with his super cool topknot cut right now.)
But I do have a thing for man buns. That's no secret.
7. Envy: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
I have a whole list of products I want to try, but either aren't sold in America or are expensive so I need to save up some money. I would love to get anything on that list as a gift, but some of those things have to be color-matched. But the two things I would love to get most as a gift are the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and the Lanvin "Me" perfume. My parents love getting me palettes for Christmas because they know I am going to use them almost everyday, and the Naked 2 is on my wishlist this year! As for the perfume, I just don't think perfume is something you set your mind on buying yourself very much unless there's that one scent you know you love. I have no clue if I'm going to to love the Lanvin perfume but the bottle is so pretty and Lanvin is one of my favorite designers, so it can't be bad, right?
hose are my seven deadly sins of beauty! What are yours? What products do you have a love/ hate relationship with? What do you neglect due to laziness? What gives you confidence? Let me know in the comments!
