On Fleek Friday: Burberry Runway Spring/Summer 2015 Look
Happy FriYAY! I've really been inspired by so many things lately, but especially the looks at London Fashion week. I always love the Burberry show and think they always do such a great job with the makeup look on the models. So today I decided to recreate the Spring/Summer 2015 look, but with some budget friendly items. Because let's be honest, as an unemployed recent college graduate, I can't really afford my whole makeup collection to be Burberry, even though I would love for that to happen!
In case you don't know, here's what my naked face looks like.
After pulling my hair back, because nothing is worse than that one piece of hair that won't stay out of your face, I got started. I found a great YouTube video that I will link below that was right from Burberry on how to create this look. So I started off with the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion and just put it on some spots on my face where my pores are clearly visible, because I'm not a model and I don't have perfect skin. Then I used the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer on my cheekbones, down my nose, the middle of my forehead and on my chin. For regular concealer I used the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer because it has a tint of orange in it, which helps to battle some of the darkness under my eyes. Then for foundation I used the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. I find that this foundation can be streaky, so I would recommend a flat top kabuki brush or a sponge like a beauty blender to put it on. If it continues to look streaky then keep blending, it honestly just takes a while, but the payoff is worth it.
Then I used a blush that came with the Smashbox Wondervision palette so I don't have the name of it. The color is a matte coral and I put that on the apples of my cheeks.
Next was eyes and Burberry went super simple with the eyes. So I used the color Lunar from the Smashbox Pop Studio palette, which is a shimmery light khaki/gold/ neutral color. I swept that all across my lid and under my eye just a bit. Then I used the Boots No. 7 Bautiful Eyebrow Pencil and filled in my brows. Usually I like a more defined brow than this but I was going with the Burberry look, and I constantly had to remind myself of this. So for the brows I just used the pencil to fill in sparse spots and even things out and nothing more. Then I used the brush that came with the pencil to brush through everything to lighten it all up.
The final touch for the Burberry look was a bold lip choice, and they must love Taylor Swift because now "I got that red lip classic thing that you like."
That's it! It was a really simple look and I love that Burberry is about simple, wearable makeup looks.
If you want to, you can add a swipe of mascara. Burberry was going super modern with this look for spring so they went without but honestly I think the look doesn't look finished.
So I went ahead and added mascara and channeled my inner Cara Delevingne and took this final photo!
What do you think of this look? Are you going to be going without mascara for spring like the Burberry runway, or adding a swipe of your favorite black mascara? If you recreate this look let me know!
