Monday Must-Haves: February 16, 2015
Happy Monday, friend! I hope you had just as fun of a weekend as I did. Valentine's Day definitely didn't suck, even thought I'm a single pringle, and Nordstrom sales are the best things since cookie butter from Trader Joe's. This week's Must-Haves are all about the Disney Princess Half-Marathon Weekend, that starts Friday and goes through Sunday. I'm running in the Enchanted 10K Saturday morning and I am so excited. If you want to keep up with my Disney running adventures I will be posting a ton of pictures on my Instagram all weekend long.
So like I said, this weekend is the Disney Princess Half-Marathon weekend. I did the half marathon last year and I was so proud of myself when I completed 13.1 miles, but it's not something I wanted to do again soon. I've been training the past few months for the 10K (6.2 miles) and I feel pretty good about myself and my ability to finish. So here's to having a good race, and good luck to all of the other runners out there that I will be seeing this weekend.
You can't do race weekend without following the official Twitter account of RunDisney and using the right hashtags! So make sure you are following @runDisney, because they are going to be posting a ton of really great stuff all weekend long from pictures to information for runners and their family. Also be sure to use the right hashtag for your race! #Princess5K #Princess10K #PrincessHalf and #GlassSlipperChallenge
There are so many different outfits that you'll come across on your race, from normal running wear to full Disney costumes. One of the best spots to start your race gear shopping is Sparkle Skirts. They make skirts that you can wear over your normal running shorts to match a themed shirt and really make a great outfit. With a red skirt and a red shirt with an "Incredibles" logo printed on it you instantly become ElstaGirl!
I'm really not a fan of doing crazy things with your hair when you're about to run, whether it's one mile or 100 miles. I do think it's a good idea that if you are going to be dressing up and the character you are dressing up as has something significant about their hair to bring that into your outfit though. I'm doing a Rapunzel theme for my race, so my hair is going up into a ponytail and I'm wearing a flower crown I bought from the kids department at Target. I think that's a good tip: Don't spend a ton of money on hair stuff, and the kids department is a great place to start!
Running for more than two minutes requires a good playlist. Mine has a pretty good mix, from Taylor Swift and One Direction to Brooke Fraser and Hillsong and everything in between. The one song that I've really used as a power song for my runs is "Move" by Little Mix.
There are so many great places to eat at Disney before and after your race is over! For me this means going to EPCOT to eat and drink whatever I want because I deserve it. I know there's one of those bacon and cheese breads from France and a Pimm's from England with my name on them!
Well that's it for this week's Monday Must-Haves! If you are running in any of the Princess races this weekend let me know in the comments. Go ahead and like this post if you want to give me an extra boost for my 10K.
