The Year In Review: 2015
1. Best Memory from 2015?
There was a lot of great memories from 2015. I went places I had never met before and I got to meet people who were super awesome, but the best memory from 2015 was going to Chicago with my mom and Emily. This trip was planned pretty last minute because I had a $1,000 flight voucher that had to be used from a bad experience of getting #StuckInDublin for two days. So our flight was free, and we got a great deal on a really nice hotel, One Direction happened to be playing at Soldier Field the weekend we were going (we totally planned that!), and Chicago was on our list of places to go. So it all worked out really well. We did so many things, from walking around some of the coolest museums, to taking a river tour of the city, to eating the world's best deep dish pizza, and jamming with One Direction. There was nothing I would change about that trip, except to make it longer!
2. Who inspired you in 2015?
There were a lot of people who inspired me this year. Some of them are people I have a close relationship with like my parents and best friends, and others have no idea who I am, like Ellie Goulding. I think the thing with inspiration is that it can come from anywhere at anytime, and sometimes from weird places. Most of the times when I'm inspired by someone I know really well it's because I've seen them work hard and achieve something massive in their lives. And other times when I'm inspired by people who I don't know, like Ellie Goulding it's because one of their songs hit me like a brick wall one day, or I loved their makeup and wanted to recreate it.
3. What did you learn in 2015?
2015 seemed like the year of waiting and learning. I learned that not everything is going to come as fast as you would like it to. Jobs are hard to get, and sometimes you have to be unemployed for over a year to figure out exactly what you want to do. I learned that moms can solve almost anything, from messing up cooking disasters to mental breakdowns. I learned dads are always good for a laugh and teaching you about Star Wars. I learned sometimes a day at Disney can change your perspective on a lot. I learned that best friend time is the best time. I learned that when all else fails, red lipstick is the way to go. I learned wearing all black can mean so many different things. I learned that dreams can change, even if your college degree can't.
4. Favorite song from 2015?
My favorite song(s) of 2015 are "Don't Panic" by Ellie Goulding, because it's really helped me change my perspective the past few months, and "Walking In The Wind" by One Direction because it's just a perfect song to have on when you're driving around town.
5. Favorite movie from 2015?
I'm not really a big movie person, in fact I think I saw four movies in the theaters this year. So I really can't answer this.
6. Did you fall in love in 2015?
Yes. With Chicago. What a beautiful city full of beautiful people, and delicious pizza!
7. Fifteen words to describe 2015.
Long, Hard, Exhausting, Challenging, Rewarding, Music, Change, Roller coaster, Weird, Intriguing, New, Adventure, Battle, Finished.
8. What are you most proud of in 2015?
The thing I am most proud of in 2015 is starting my YouTube Channel. I think that was the major stepping stone for me to realize how much I enjoy doing makeup, not only on myself but for others. It's a great creative outlet for me and there are endless possibilities.
9. What moment do you wish would never end from 2015?
Emily and I went to see Taylor Swift in October. It was the last night of the US leg of her tour and there were so many great moments from that night. To seeing how awesome Vance Joy was, to that moment the lights went down and "Welcome to New York" started playing, to Indina Menzel coming onstage dressed like Elsa and Taylor dressed like Olaf and singing "Let It Go." It was a night I will never ever forget. The night went by so fast and all of the sudden we were in the mass of crowd going back to the car and driving back to Orlando to go to Disney the next day. But part of me still wishes my bracelet would light up when "Shake It Off" started playing on my computer.
10. Favorite meal from 2015?
Morimoto Asia. Everything about it was perfect.
11. What did you change about yourself in 2015?
A lot of things changed in 2015. I didn't care who outside of my close circle of friends saw my weird, because life it too short to not be weird.
12. Where did you go in 2015?
Chicago, Disney, Tampa.
13. Did you achieve your 2015 New Year's resolution?
No. My 2015 New Year's Resolution was to get a job in my field and to buy Harry Styles a drink at a bar. Well I failed at both of those, but that doesn't mean I'm a failure.
14. What did you say hello and goodbye too in 2015?
In 2015 I said hello to all of the red lipsticks, not being afraid to say no, and being able to change.
I said goodbye to negative people, old TOMS Shoes, and ugly Christmas sweaters.
15. What do you want to do next year?
Next year I want to go to LA with my best friend. I also want to find a job! (If you're reading this and work in the beauty industry and have an open position let me know!) I also want to record my own Carpool Karaoke with my friends.
I hope 2015 was all you hoped it would be and more! Here's to 2016 and being all that you can be in the next year.
