Monday Must Haves: October 12, 2015
Happy Monday, friends! I hope you guys had a great weekend! This week is a really special week because Friday is my best friend's birthday! So today's Monday Must Have is all about how to make a birthday super awesome!
Now, Emily isn't that into sports, but I am so I'm still going to include it this week. If you haven't been following along with the European Championship Qualifying Soccer Tournament then you've missed out on some great games. One game I'm really looking forward to this week is between Wales and Andorra. Partly because I love Wales, and partly because Wales are considered a slight underdog in this tournament. So Cymru am byth.
This is my best friend, Emily!
If you don't know her, I'm truly sorry, because she's the bees knees! She has something very exciting coming up besides a birthday this week, so make sure to watch her Twitter! And you should follow her anyways because she's cool.
There's nothing better than brunch to celebrate the birthday of your best friend! But what to wear? Well it's Fall, so a dress might not be a good idea. What I love about Fall brunches, besides best friends and a vodka grapefruit, is the chance to show off some new outfits. My go-to brunch look is going to be black skinny jeans (because you can't go wrong with that), a patterned button down shirt, something jazzy because fun!, and some really cool Zara flats. And if jazzy shirts aren't your thing, then all black is also acceptable.
When it comes to birthdays, especially those of your best friend, making a statement is important. And what better way to make a statement than with your lipstick?! My favorite statement red is NARS Dragon Girl. It's a true bright red that would look great on just about anyone. I love the NARS velvet matte lip pencils too because they are so easy to put on, and they stay put all day! I've also heard Dragon Girl is what Taylor Swift wears, and who doesn't want to be more like Taylor?
When you're birthday is on the same day as a One Direction Concert you have to be front row. This is major goals for Emily and I. But we were not front row in Chicago, we were row "we can feel the rain before anyone else." So just replace Alyssa with Emily, you've got the perfect birthday song!
What's a birthday without major dance jams in the car with the birthday girl?! "A boring day" is the correct answer. Well some of Emily and I's favorite dance jams are "22" "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" "Little White Lies" and "C'mon C'mon" by One Direction, and the ever so popular "Africa" by Toto. So pick up your best friend and dance like you don't care who's watching in the car next to you.
Like I said earlier, there's nothing better than brunch to celebrate your best friend's birthday! One of my favorite brunch places is Black Sheep in the Five Points area of Jacksonville. They have a great menu that changes seasonally, and something on it that will please everyone. I love that they have a rooftop bar that overlooks the area, but they also have a really awesome interior in case the weather outside is sub-par. One of my favorites at Black Sheep is their shrimp and grits!
Well, that's it for this week's Monday Must Haves! If you try anything on this list or have something you think I should try out, let me know in the comments. Like this post if you're all about making best friend birthday's a big deal!
