I am just under a month away from graduating from university, and I couldn't be more excited. There are a ton of new adventures on the horizon and I can't wait to experience them all. But before I get to do those things I want to take this chance over the next few weeks to look back and thank the people who have pushed me to go beyond what I thought was possible to make my college experience the best it could be! This week I want to focus on a few different people. Over the past four years I have gotten the opportunity to work for some really awesome people and intern with some great organizations.
I would first like to thank the Jacksonville Sharks for giving me the opportunity to be their administrative assistant and game operations intern for the ticket office. Without this internship I don't know if I would have gotten the chances I have gotten the rest of the way through college. The people I met through the Sharks organization are some of my best friends, and I know that they are going to do great things with their lives. I would specifically like to thank Steve at the Sharks for seeing potential in me and allowing me to make mistakes and make them teachable moments. The Jacksonville Sharks really were the catalyst for my passion for wanting to work in sports, and to that I say thank you for an unforgettable experience.
Second, I would like to thank Donovin Darius. I've been working with Donovin for just over a year now and each time I get to work with him at a camp I learn something new. I don't know if I have ever met someone who is so passionate about what they do than Donovin. He is a constant inspiration for hard work and dedication leading to where you want to go in life. Donovin sees people for their strengths and never for their weaknesses. I am constantly being pushed to become a better person, whether that be professionally or personally, because of Donovin. Thank you.
Lastly, I would like to thank AFL FanZone for letting me write for them for the past two years and letting me write for them again this year! I have become a better writer because of you guys. I have been able to travel for "work" which seems more like fun than work when you get to watch a football game. I've gotten to go to Arena Bowl Media Day and see KISS perform an acoustic concert (which I still have Gene Simmons guitar pick). I can't tell you how many people have told me that they have read my articles or are thankful that I have live-tweeted game because they missed it and really enjoyed my view on things. Because of AFL FanZone I have been pushed to go out of my comfort zone to talk to people I normally wouldn't talk too and I have been pushed to practice writing on a more regular basis. AFL FanZone isn't my job though, it's become part of my extended family. Thank you for all that you have given me over these past few years!
